'Everything you encounter is your life' comes from a beautiful work by Zen master Dogen: The Tenzo Kyokun or Advise to the cook. In this text Dogen expands how cooking is not simply preparing meals but the activity of the Awakened mind. In this webinar we will be looking at a couple of lines from Dogen's work and together finding metaphors to help us infuse the whole of life with a touch of Awakening and Love may it be while cooking, parenting or whatever else we do.

A bit about Amalasiddhi

I was born in Mexico city. I encountered Buddhism at the age of 17 after attending a meditation course at the México city Buddhist centre. Hearing what the Buddha thought, I felt as if I had found home, something I knew was real and true in my bones. Since then, I started practicing as best as I could attending classes and retreats. Then the opportunity came to move to Cambridge, England to live and work with other Buddhists in a more immersive context to train for ordination. I at once knew that was the right thing to do and so in 2011 I left Mexico. I was Ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2013 at the age of 21. Over the years I have helped run, organize or lead various classes, groups and retreats in various locations. Sharing the Buddha's teachings is what I'm most passionate about. At present I live with my wife and two young children in Sheffield. I helped running a vegetarian cafe and ocational events at the local Buddhist centre.
