Retreat Information

Summer Open Retreat

Retreat Calendar

Buddhism offers us many practices which help us to develop a greater intimacy with ourselves, each other and the living Earth. We will offer full instruction in meditation and teach basic Buddhist ideas which give us a deeper understanding of our relationship with others and with life. Buddhafield's own Frog Mill land is beautiful oasis of green fields, trees and water. It is set at the edge of Dartmoor and will provide us with a wonderful setting for exploring the elements - the theme of Buddhafield's programme for the whole of 2008. The theme of the elements gives us mythic and experiential ways to feel a sense of unity with all that lives.

Teaching will take place though talks and led experiential activities. There will be an opportunity to look at the power of ritual in Buddhism, with rituals to help us open our hearts to ourselves, others and our surroundings. We will also include one "solo" day which will be time in silence, alone in nature. This delicious opportunity gives us the chance to listen more deeply to our environment and allow reflections to settle more fully. There will also be some other periods of silence during the retreat, sometimes overnight.

This retreat is particularly suitable for beginners but regulars are also welcome. Many find that a mix of experience on a retreat is very rewarding for all participants.
