The dates of this year's women's retreat are 2nd - 9th May; the height of springtime - a nourishing time of year to get out from the four walls of our houses and experience the natural world at its most inspirational. It will be an opportunity to deepen our connection not only with the land, but also with ourselves, with one another and with our deeper values. So the title of the retreat is 'A Deeper Flowering'.

Through meditation, discussion, optional yoga and simple ritual including mantra chanting, we'll be exploring the qualities of awareness through the traditional Buddhist practice of 'The four Levels of Mindfulness'. These four levels that we can become more aware of are the body and breath; feelings; thoughts; and the reality of the ever-changing world we are part of. Awareness in itself has an enriching, transforming effect - in a way, it's all we need to do to bring about positive change in our lives.

Akasati writes: 'Since I got more fully involved with Buddhafield in 2001, the women's retreats have been a unique and special part of my experience of friendship and community, having a quality of openness and intimacy that I value hugely. I know I am not alone in having this strong heart-connection with these events. Mumukshu, myself and the others on our fabulous team would love this event to serve as a reunion for as many as possible of our women friends who have been on these retreats over the last years, as well as an opening for women who have not been on these retreats before.'

Please note that Visvadakini will be on the team and will be teaching yoga on the retreat. As we are keen to have her on the team, and Visvadakini is not yet able to leave her son Keir for this amount of time because of his disabilities, we are making arrangements for Keir to be looked after nearby by members of the team and we may at some point bring him to a puja as he loves chanting and all things musical.

Please note this year there will be a £10 charge to bring a car on retreat, which will go towards our permaculture and tree planting project. If you are travelling to this retreat by car and can offer someone a lift please offer your lift on the FreeWheelers site.
