How Buddhafield Makes Money

Buddhafield is a not-for-profit organisation that raises funds by putting on a Festival, running a field Café, requesting donations from people attending our retreats and running appeals. Some of our supporters make one-off donations, others set up regular Standing Orders and a few help us with private loans. We depend on the generosity of retreatants and volunteers to be able to keep our programme going.

The Buddhafield Festival

Because of the costs involved, the Festival charges set ticket prices. As well as selling tickets, we negotiate individually for donations (as opposed to a fixed pitch fee) from our traders based on their turnover at the event. Any surplus it makes is donated to the charity, Triratna Buddhafield.

The Buddhafield Café

The Café’s modest surplus is re-invested back into itself.

Buddhafield Retreats & Events

On our retreats and most of our events, attenders are asked for a modest (non-refundable) deposit when making a booking. Subsequently, although there are published guidelines, they are free to give more or less than the sums suggested at the end of their retreat.

Having said that, for many years, our retreats have been subsidised by the Buddhafield Festival, but we can’t always rely on this. So we ask retreatants to give as much as they can and help us to become fully self-financing and continue to offer these unique retreats in the heart of nature.

In recent years we have been running a Land Appeal to fundraise for the purchase of our land at Broadhembury and Frog Mill.

Other Ways to Help

Gift Aid

As a charity, we are able to claim Gift Aid on your donation (whatever amount you pay beyond your retreat deposit). This is worth an extra 25% of your donation. If you are a UK income tax payer, please tick the box above if you make a donation through the website (above) or download, fill in and post a Gift Aid form to the Buddhafield Office.

Donations of any amount, large or small would be gratefully accepted.

  • You can make a donationby credit or debit card via the JustGiving website.
  • Cheques made to “Buddhafield” and sent to the Buddhafield General Office. If you are a UK tax payer we can claim another 28% from the government so please use our Donation and Gift Aid form.

In some instances we have benefitted from both short and long term private loans from friends and supporters. If you think you can help us with a loan, please contact the treasurer

Standing Orders

Standing orders are a great way to contribute a regular amount towards our projects, it doesn't matter how small or large, every bit helps. Standing Order and Gift Aid form.

We are all going to die at some point and we may have acquired significant assets during our lives. We would want those assets to benefit the things that we cared about duringour lives after our death. Contact the office for advice on what you should include in your will so that Buddhafield benefits from your estate either financially or in kind.

If you would like to help on the land in other ways, please contact us.
